The first step in developing an aggressive growth plan is setting aggressive growth targets. Many Entrepreneurs went into business simply to replace their prior employment income and as such have limited goals for their business. We work with our clients to determine their personal goals and dreams for their business and help to set extraordinary goals for the business in order to set high expectations from the 5 Stage Growth Process. The conservative approach of reaching for the next rung of the ladder can work if you are satisfied with small incremental improvements in your business. We encourage our clients to reach for the stars to promote creative and innovative new thinking throughout the rest of the process. Click for more details. |

The second step in creating growth is to identify and analyze markets. Many business owners designed their business around a market that they knew or were comfortable in, but in many cases they are limiting their growth by limiting their market. We spend time with our clients in their organizations to understand their unique value proposition, the details of their unique assets, and the market(s) that they currently service. We then take this information and through a process of brainstorming and market research we identify the markets with the greatest growth potential that they can serve using the assets, products, and service offerings they already have in place. Our goal at this stage is to identify the markets that offer the greatest growth potential with the most attractive competitive landscape that can be exploited to generate extraordinary returns. The third stage of the process is where the fun really starts. With lofty goals in place and new markets identified and at the ready, we work with our clients to define the strategy that will allow them to create the kind of growth that will fulfill their dreams. Using the information from our market research we will examine the market opportunities and align the strategy to use the existing strengths of the organization and products or services to quickly enter these markets. Working with the client and their team we facilitate the brainstorming and innovation session(s) that start the change management process within the organization. By involving the team members in the definition of the strategy they become invested in the process and see their own creativity defining the direction of the company. Click for more details. |

It has been said many times that failing to plan is planning to fail, and that is the key to the fourth stage of the process. With our strategy in hand we work collaboratively with the client and their team to build the business plan and milestones that will define the execution of the strategy. At this stage we take the broad strategy and create specific operating plans for sales, marketing, product/service development, and delivery functions with their own milestones so that each team member understands the plan and the expectations on them within that plan. Robert Burns poem 'To A Mouse' ably illustrates the importance of execution and focus on the present while preparing for an unpredictable future. The first four stages of our growth model are all designed to prepare for the unpredictable future, and it is in this stage of execution that we test our plans against the real world and the forces that are out of our control. We take a partnership approach with our clients through the execution phase of their growth plan helping them to identify pitfalls and roadblocks so that they can make the minor course corrections that may be necessary to achieve the goals set out in the first stage.
